Thuram is the physical foil that gives Deschamps a tactical alternative to the inverted front three. If France need a target man late in a game — to attack crosses, to win the long second ball, to hold the ball up under pressure — Thuram is the only player on the roster who profiles that way. With Dembélé increasingly central, Thuram’s path to a start narrows, but he is the most likely 60th-minute substitute.
Strengths
- Hold-up play and back-to-goal link work
- Aerial threat as a 6'4" centre-forward
