Ndiaye is the post-Mané creative future. He shoulders an enormous share of Senegal’s progressive ball-carrying — the player who beats one full-back, drives into the half-space, and either shoots or finds the runner. With Mané drifting deeper, Ndiaye is increasingly the one taking on direct one-on-one situations in the final third.
At 26 he is just entering peak years. Senegal’s tournament hopes depend on him performing at the level he showed at Sheffield United two seasons ago — when he was one of the Championship’s most-coveted players — and not at the level of his patchier Marseille year.
Strengths
- Two-footed dribbling at speed
- Press-resistant in tight spaces
- Goal threat from either flank or as a No. 10
