Valencia at 36 is no longer the player who outran defenders in 2014 — but he remains the captain, the dressing-room voice and the man for the big moments. Beccacece is likely to start him in must-win matches and rotate Rodríguez or Campana through less load-critical games. A goal at his third World Cup would put him in rare South American company.
