Pulisic is the closest thing this generation of US soccer has to a household name, and he has finally married that profile to the kind of season-long production that lets a national team plan around him. Pochettino can use him as a left-sided forward in a 4-2-3-1 or as a free 10 behind Balogun; either way he is the connector who turns the USMNT from athletic into dangerous. At a home tournament, with a friendly draw, the pressure on him to deliver a knockout performance will be as heavy as anything an American has carried.
Strengths
- press-resistant ball-carrying from the left half-space
- left-footed finishing from the right
- set-piece delivery
- leadership on the biggest stage
