Beiranvand is the most decorated Iranian goalkeeper of all time and the longest-serving No. 1 of the Carlos Queiroz / Ghalenoei eras. His Ronaldo penalty save in Saransk 2018 remains the single most-clipped moment in Iranian football, and at 33 he is still the first-choice keeper at his third senior World Cup.
Behind a back line that includes Hajsafi, Kanaani, and Khalilzadeh, Beiranvand’s experience will be heavily relied upon. A second penalty save in a major tournament would put him in conversation with Iker Casillas-tier shootout specialists.
Strengths
- Penalty-saving record
- Long throw — used as an attacking weapon
- Big-tournament composure
Recent form
Tractor No. 1 and Iran first-choice; vice-captain.
His goalkeeper throws regularly cover 70 meters, putting them in the same range as a punted clearance and turning his distribution into a counter-attack launch.
