Isak and Gyökeres together are the most talked-about striker pairing of this World Cup. Potter has been working through how to maximize both — sometimes a 4-4-2 with Isak deeper, sometimes a 4-3-3 with Isak wide left and Gyökeres central. Both options have produced goals in qualifying.
Group F is fortunate for Sweden in one sense: Japan and Tunisia both prefer to play out from the back, exactly the game state Isak’s pace and pressing exploit best. His tournament potential is the highest of any Swedish forward since Zlatan in 2006.
Strengths
- Both-foot finishing in and around the box
- Long-stride dribbling at centre-backs
- First touch under pressure in the box

Was nicknamed "the next Zlatan" so early in his career that Swedish broadcaster SVT ran a 2017 documentary about the burden — a label he has since outpaced statistically by every measure.
